Witch Alder ( Fothergilla gardenii )

We had guests in the Lodge for a long weekend so unusually we were prepping the Lodge today.  Soon after we bought the Lodge we planted this Fothergilla, then we were told it was a type of "Bottle Brush plant".    It appears its common name is Witch Alder (sometimes spelled Wych Hazel)

Native to southern North America it has turned out to be a very floriferous slow growing bush.  If the references are to be believed it will eventually reach 1 m in all directions (up and across).  The flower structure is very unusual in that there are no petals.  The white structures making up the "flower" are actually stamens.
