Blue …
and green, and white, and white and blue.
Finally made it to Middleton Woods today if only briefly to see the bluebells before they go over.
We normally do the full circular walk ending up in the woods but we didn’t have enough time today so entered the woods from the bottom having crossed the park from town.
Pilates as usual this morning but then we were off to Ilkley for an Exhibition on Screen at Ilkley cinema. This is the third one we’ve seen. The Vermeer exhibition from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam was fabulous and then two from the Royal Academy of Art. Klimt and then today ‘Painting the Modern Garden - Monet to Matisse’.
I’ve seen the Water lily murals in the Orangerie in Paris and more Monet and other impressionists in the Musee D’Orsay also in a Paris. My friend and I did a trip to Giverny some years ago and it was lovely to see the gardens on screen together with other gardens that had inspired artist as well as the canvases they have produced. It a great way to see art if you can’t get to the exhibitions and you get a commentary too.
It was very warm and a bit muggy when we visited the woods afterwards, quite a surprise after a cool morning, wondered if we were going to get more thunder, apparently there was quite a bit of flash flooding after yesterdays downpour.
Back to Guiseley for fish and chips and then a quick nip into M&S to pick up a parcel. Enough for one day I think.
My title is blue but there was a lot of fresh green in the woods and white from the wild garlic flowers (ransoms) and I adored the huge white tulips in the park just where we parked the car for our walk, set amongst other white flowers, delightful.
Today is the day to remember blipper Amalarian, Molly, a special person to many
