A Fresh Point of View

No fireworks in my blip today, even though it's the 4th of July -- it wasn't dark enough yet for them to begin when we first stepped onto the roof of the Herald Building downtown for Futurewise Whatcom's annual fundraising party at 8:15pm.

With a little help from my favorite Oympus XZ-1 option, I bring you icons of downtown Bellingham from a viewpoint few people have had -- the "Welcome to Bellingham" sign on the large light brick building in the center of the photo; the iconic Mount Baker Theatre's 110-foot white tower; the red brick spire of St. Paul's Episcopal Church to the right of that; Bellingham Towers, the tallest building in the city; and everywhere, the welcome green of trees.

It's now nearly 11:30pm, and we have to get up at 4:30am to see Stage 7 of the Tour de France at Mount Bakery, so au revoir for now!

P.S. Here's Phil's view of the evening.
