Hornet queen

Out in the woods again today I came across this Queen European Hornet. She was huge (around 2 inches in length), luckily it was quite cool and she allowed me a few shots before she started getting cross and 'buzzing' her wings at me. At which point I happily took the hint and left her to it!
More worryingly Cleo said she had seen one in the garden the previous day - whilst I love them I don't think I need them in my garden or my moth trap! Photo of her face in extras.
