The weather forecast looked promising, and a gentle Saturday recovering from an intense first week in the new job meant that energy levels were restored to a level that permitted another trip to Medway, this time with my new best friend in tow. The Sweeps festival in Rochester is the highlight of the May Day bank holiday weekend as far as I am concerned, so we travelled together by train from Bedford to Rochester so I could introduce him to the madness in Medway in May. He hadn't visited Rochester before and was enchanted by the whole experience. My friends were very happy to meet him too.
