A New Route
We finally got to try out the section of path which has been reinstated as a "public footpath" and which allows us to link the West Hall Road (to the west of our house) to the edge of the village, the church, and the existing paths to the east of the main road, making a loop of almost six miles. We don't know who did all the research on this, or who paid for the installation of three substantial wooden bridges, two of them gated, plus three additional gates on this new stretch. The bridge which leads from the road appeared a few weeks ago and the signage last week. We've been waiting until things had dried up a little, but were mindful of the fact that cattle are often released into the first meadow for the summer so we'll be less keen on it then. Anyway, a pleasant walk along quiet roads and field edges, though the new path definitely needs to be used and trampled a bit to keep the vegetation down!
