Ziggy

The last full day in Hull. And an important one, being as it was the 40th anniversary of the death of Ziggy Stardust on stage at the Hammersmith Odeon. And, seeing as how David Bowie's Spiders were not actually from Mars but from Hull (as some people at least are aware) we decided to have a little tribute to this on the site of the Mick Ronson memorial stage in Queens Gardens. Pictures of David & Mick were printed, posed with and then ceremoniously torn apart by my eldest to signify the end of the band. This particular image I've chosen for today's blip is the part of the proceedings where I'm explaining to my mum which one is Mick Ronson in the picture ie The One That Isn't David Bowie. Anyway, set of pics are up here.

After all this time in town there was then the obligatory walk home past the general neglect and urban despair before cheering on Andy Murray and then a post-tea trip out to Beverley Westwood for some fresh air and exercise where my girls pretended to be dogs and I threw sticks for them to fetch. For over an hour. And it didn't tire them out in the slightest. Not one jot.

To finish - a tune. What a tune. Today, of all days, it can only be one tune.
