Pele Island, Vanuatu

Another great market visit this morning, in Motueka , before we set of for the long drive home.

I loved these guys.
Seasonal orchard workers from Vanuatu playing their own style of music, very vibrant and happy.

These workers come over to NZ from different Pacific islands to work in the horticulture industry for months at a time. Earning around ten times more per week here than they can at home is life changing for them.
Of course they are leaving family and children behind but the money they send home builds houses and health centers etc.

These guys today were from the island of Pele, Vanuatu., and were raising funds for a medical center.

Dad and I went up to Vanuatu a few years ago, and saw how tough life is for the locals. They were always smiling though.
