Dunnock again

This time without any stalks in the way :-)
I love the intricate detail on these little birds: the swirly patterns below the eye, for instance.
I'd intended to get out on a photo trip today, either in local woodlands or capturing murals for the ArtUK database.
But the light was murky until well after lunch. Tomorrow's forecast looks better, so I opted for some work in the garden instead. I demolished a prostrate rosemary plant that had sprawled and become woody after some inept pruning by me, last year and this spring. Instead, I've put in a perennial wallflower and a couple of ground cover plants.  In all the places where I'd disturbed the soil, the dunnock was quickly rooting around for food, sometimes barely a yard away from me.
At intervals I checked the news on the phone, waiting for reports about the remaining mayoral election results. I was delighted to see Sadiq Khan returned in London. I really appreciate the way that he's stood his ground about air quality and environmental issues, sticking with the low emissions policy despite the attacks he's faced. I hope this might stiffen the resolve of Labour nationally to commit to good policies on the climate emergency, and not to cave in to pressure from the various lobbies and vested interests who prefer to turn a blind eye to it all.
