Made of the leftover wax of candles in Germany 1944.
Made by my mother for her mother in a time when there was nothing left to buy as a Christmas gift.
It stood on my nightstand for most of my years as a young mother. When I emigrated to the US I must have given it back to my mother, I feared that it wouldn’t survive the move.
When she died, her brother inherited it. When he died his daughter in France inherited it. And she sent me this picture yesterday telling me that she is thinking of my mom every day as it is standing on her nightstand. What a travel this sweet little thing has made . It is about 15 cm high.
