Intrusion
One of the academic groups I'm involved with at the university generally has its post seminar dinners at Scotts Kitchen, on the walkway above Victoria Street. The food is ok, and you get exclusive use of the place, which I really like.
So on Thursday afternoon, I spent my time in an interesting academic seminar, and then went to the Bow Bar for a quick pint with some colleagues, and on for dinner. As I came out, I snapped a quick photograph of Victoria Street, which is still *theoretically* pedestrianised. And yet the contrast with September 2020 could not be more stark. Why is that cars will *always* insert themselves into the British cityscape? I despair. Neither pedestrians nor cyclists can ever really take anything for granted.
Earlier on, there was a really interesting meeting with a visiting Indian Vice Chancellor. Lots of scope for collaboration, I hope.
