You make a wish for all the year
Been Dreading this day.
I woke up and discovered that I felt exactly the same. Same as the day before. Sore knees, aching feet, and that was all the walking.
Flurry of messages to make me groan, and then I stood up to face life, as a really old person.
I looked at myself in the mirror, and I said to Si, "I don't look any bloody different. I don't feel different?" And I don't but this number is freaking me out.
The kids are getting concerned, because according to my arithmetic, I was 15 when I had Boy, 18 when I had Tooli, which is perfectly acceptable. Next year, I will have been 14, and 17 respectively.
I refuse. I refuse to give in. I remain 48 for ever, maybe 52 on bad days.
We got up - Breakfasted, and headed out. We trammed it to the centre, and headed for the Moleskine shop. That was a must. I was sorely tempted by the electronic pen, but I resisted and kept to my usual, Large, Lined, and Softback. The one exception for my Big Birthday was Gold Leaf Embossing with Berlin 2024, and two little charms. A Heart and a Taurus.
When I picked the Taurus, the lady said "oh so your birthday may be soon", As Si stood and laughed and shook his head. "no no".
I was delighted with my gift and we took off to wander the streets some more.
We bought some silly stuff for me to give to my girls. And we had coffee.
Then we walked along the river bank, sat and enjoyed some ice cream, and then walked back to the Square we were people watched for a while and then determined it was time to head to the airport.
Back to the hotel for luggage, and onto a tram, and then a train, and we were there.
Our plane was slightly delayed, by 30 minutes I think it was, but we were soon on our way.
When we landed at Edinburgh however, things went down hill. Apparently we had been diverted to a different Stand, but the stair well and staff weren't.
We had to wait around 30 minutes on the plane until 2 buses arrived, and a stairwell. Then we had to wait another 20 minutes on someone arriving from the terminal who could "open" the door from the outside.
Then it was onto the bus, I had Nothing to hold onto except for Si's pants. We had to stand for 15 minutes until the bus took off, and Si noted as we headed, the stair and the staff may have arrived, but there was no one unloading luggage.
He was right. We had to wait another 35 minutes until the luggage appeared after we had all cleared Customs.
Joy.
Finally Into the car, and off home. We were in bed by 2.45 am
Exhausted.
