Day 2 of the conference

And Noemi, my joint MD and colleague, and writer Ryan did a fairly early panel on our BBC3 show Wreck.  Deciding that a panel about ‘how we made it’ is of fairly limited interest to a bunch of international producers who have their own hit shows, we discussed focussing on an issue close to Ryan’s heart which was the representation of gay and trans people on television, especially in genre, (Wreck is a comedy horror show). It genuinely lit up the room! Loads of response, lots of discussion.  Very proud of them both.

I slept very well last night so felt much more bouncy today.  Gloriously sunny and warm in Amsterdam and we went for a short wander at lunchtime enjoying warmth on our chilled spring bones.

Left for the airport and had a smooth journey back to Southampton and home. Slightly surprised to be lightly grilled at passport control at the airport when normally home comers are waved through.

Nice supper prepared by V and we watched episode 1 of Shardlake the first in a series of books that I absolutely loved.  Adapted by my friend Stephen I was a bit worried about them but Arthur Hughes is a lovely Shardlake and Anthony Boyle perfect as Barak, a character who actually appears in the second book but he subs in perfectly for the other temporary sidekick.
