Early Butterflies

A beautiful sunny day, definitely the warmest day of the year so far. Breezy all day, calmer as the day went on.

Up early, got another load of washing out.  Headed to the peat hill.  I got on good today, until the peat bank collapsed. Think I'll need to find a new bank next year.  Nipped down to Laura's after lunch. I stopped off for a walk heading home this afternoon, and got a guided tour around the old Fladdabister houses from Douglas Halcrow.  Back to the peat hill this evening, trying to tidy up the mess from earlier.  Another day and I should be finished for now.  Early to bed tonight.

Everything has fairly come into bloom this past few days, especially today with the soaring temperature.  After a long cold winter, with single figure temperatures, today was lovely, in the upper teens.  There's been bumblebees buzzing around for a few weeks now, but today I was surprised to see loads of butterflies, Red Admirals, my favourite.  I don't know if it's rare to see them at this time of year, but definitely not something I think of until later in June.  Plenty of dandelions out with the sunshine, they were feeding well.  A Red Admiral outside the old houses, Fladdabister.
