A Fool's Errand in Tomatin

It was 14° when we left home at about 09:15 and by the time we reached Tomatin it was nudging 20°. Tomatin is a good place to stop because there is an EV charging point and a good dog friendly cafe. But horrors! The cafe was shut. Luckily we had the makings of a picnic with us. 


I was on the trail of the tin church in Tomatin as part of the Tin Tabernacles of 2024 project. But it's gone! Apparently demolished during the covid lockdown years. I couldn't believe it. Well I can believe that the church meets now in the very nice Tomatin community centre but to actually demolish the historic building is inexplicable. I feel like writing to the Church of Scotland to express my dismay. 

The blip is all that remains of the tin kirk. What a lovely view it had - right by the huge railway viaduct. 

Ever onwards up the A9 to Daviot where we had a 5K walk in the woods. Very pleasant and a decent stretch. Then on again to Clachnaharry. We like it here. It's right where the Caledonian Canal meets the Beauly Firth. There's always interesting things to watch. We're in a new cottage this time  and we've not got quite the view of the place we've stayed before. We do have much more space though and it's beautifully presented. A quick hop over the railway line and we'll be at the canal side. That's where I'm heading now. 

I really am going to try to keep up with blip but on recent form I'm not hugely confident.
