The Valais Schwarznase is a mountain sheep from the canton of Valais in Switzerland and has its origins in the 15th century. Over the centuries, natural selection has created a sheep that has adapted to the rough mountain climate. The breed has developed unique qualities of self-reliance, fertility, frugality and area loyalty.
