The great Orchid count.
The National Trust owns land in Silverdale which is rather special for its
Orchids.
Every year at this time National Trust volunteers gather for the annual count.
About 20 people are involved and it takes much of the day.
My blip shows one group and there is a second group in my first extra.
Last year the count showed that there were 12,000 Green Winged Orchids and 8,000 Early Purples. For those who love wild flowers it is quite a sight.
