Boundary Dwellers

Wild

I was surprised and relieved at the sight of newts wriggling in the leaves I'd scooped from the murky depths of the pond. Algae and dead leaves had made the place uninvitiñg - deadly, even - surely. This one, with brightly coloured markings down its spine, was too quick diving back into the pond for me to catch more than the ripples of its leaving.

Extra - the failed Brussels sprouts that I left in over winter are now providing a rather pretty floral display.
