The Lozarithm Lens

The Front Yard (Tuesday 30th April 2024)

The green alkanet has gone absolutely berserk, to the degree that although it goes against my nature, I may have to pull some if it up. The first few aquilegias have also sprung up, but that's for another blip. Thanks to Miranda1008 for hosting Wildflower Week.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Duane Eddy and The Rebels - Because They're Young (recorded 1960, Hollywood CA)
R.I.P. Duane Eddy (26 April 1938, Corning NY - 30 April 2024, Franklin TN)
Duane Eddy (gtr) with Howard Roberts (rh gtr), Red Callender (bass), Shelly Manne (dr), the string section of Los Angeles Philharmonic and Steve Douglas (sax)
Duane Eddy began playing the guitar at the age of five. As a teenager his family moved to Tucson and then to Coolidge AZ, and he released his first single in 1955. He had devised a technique of playing lead on his 6-string guitar's bass strings to produce his trademark "twangy" sound. In November 1957, Eddy recorded an instrumental, Moovin' n' Groovin, his first single for Jamie Records, co-written by Eddy and studio owner and his producer Lee Hazlewood. During the 1960's, Duane Eddy also launched an acting career, appearing in such films as Because They're Young, in which he had a cameo role. In the film the title song was sung by James Darren but the hit single from the film was Duane Eddy's instrumental.
