Seville Day Five
The girls went window shopping this morning, and I just took an aimless dander through the wee streets. You always come to a bit you recognise. Besides, with GPS on the phone, you can’t get lost. I’m SO impressed with the tidy streets - NO chewing gum, litter, smelly overflowing bins, and streets washed at night. How wonderful - just shows pride in their city.
I ended up back at the same cafe as yesterday. No seats out of the sun, but I did my usual trick of asking if I could sit with a couple who were sitting together on one side of a table. They had coffees and churros. I had a coffee, and when they left, I felt I couldn’t hog a table for too long, so I went to pay, but the other folk had already been charged for it. Bonus!
I then met up with the others and we walked to the restaurant we’d had recommended. In fact, Hazel had booked it a month ago, so popular it is. It’s a Michelin Star, I was told, but I suspected it was as soon as I saw there were no vegetables and only a couple of potatoes… We did not try the ‘sea anemone croquettes’, nor yet did we try the ‘codfish tripe’. We weren’t tempted by the ‘cod liver salad’ either… There was a general sense of panic for a few minutes as we perused the menu…
However, the whole sea bass between us was very nice, as were the langoustines. And the unexpected rice pudding was an EPIC dessert.
It was a super place, just buzzing, with the numerous bow-tied, black-aproned staff moving about quietly and efficiently, very quiet music on, and we had the best seat in the house.
We’re all flagging a bit, and so back to the hotel for a rest, before going out for an evening walk. Possibly.
No walk. Started to rain.
