Linnet

Another Mendip Hills bird - this one's a male linnet.  Linnets being ground feeders, are not the most confiding of birds and it generally takes me a while to get close enough to them for a decent shot.  This chap insisted on keeping his back to me, so you can't see his pink chest in this shot.

Instead, I've given you an extra of the  bird looking towards the camera so that you can see his colouring.  Unfortunately he's a bit higher than me (which I'm not a fan of) and the background sky is not attractive - but that's the sort of weather we have at the moment.
