Canberra from Mount Ainslie
This picture shows, from the bottom up, the Australian national war memorial; ANZAC Parade (red pavement); lake Burley Griffin and beyond it first the old and then topmost, with the tower on top, the new Federal Parliament buildings - where we were yesterday.
This is a beautiful capital city, broad leafy avenues, public gardens and lots of space.
We have had a very enjoyable two-day break here with Fred and Louis.
Back to Wollongong tonight with Mike.
Yet to see a kangaroo, and sadly many wombats on our route had been killed by vehicles. Always a shame when the only specimens of a delightful animal or bird one finds are dead on the roadside. What price "civilisation"?
