La'al Ratty

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway ( La'al Ratty ) is a 15inch gauge heritage railway that runs 7 miles from Ravenglass on the coast, up to Dalegarth in Eskdale.

From 1875 onwards the railway was used to transport hematite iron ore.

We woke up early and headed off to Ravenglass to catch the first train at 10.25am. It's the most gorgeous journey!

We went up on The River Esk, and we came back on The William Beck. Both steam trains.

Highly recommended!
