Cymbalaria muralis

Arriving at St Paul's Church in Woodhouse Eaves for rehearsal, I saw that this exquisite climbing plant was covering the stone wall at the boundary. I've often wondered what it's called because I encounter it frequently growing on garden walls. Google Lens to the rescue. Its common name is Ivy Leaved Toadflax.

It's not native to Britain having stowed away allegedly in a consignment of Italian marble to Oxford in the 17th century. It's acclimatised well, given its southern origins and I always love to see it.

Rehearsal was OK, performance was better although there were still glitches. I could swear someone close to me was singing well out of tune for a couple of lines in one of the pieces. We had a full house for an audience which gratified the treasurer. Extra chairs had to be put out to accommodate everyone.

I was well tired by the end of the day and I wasn't even driving. But it was difficult to get to sleep afterwards.

Promised rain did not arrive by the time we left the church, thankfully. However, it was cold. I was glad of my vest and my DryRobe.
