Two buck chuck

Is the order of this evening. Yes a bottle of palatable wine for $2 (well a little more now they raised taxes).

Seeing as its not a school day tomorrow as we celebrate the independence of the US from us Brits. Mixed emotions for me as I will be more of an American this time next year. Still it's the only time of the year everyone goes mad with fireworks over here (being illegal in California to own/buy them yourselves). Lets hope the big display downtown doesn't all go off in 18 sec like last year "the big bay bust" (not bang).

Got an email from my old boss asking me to re analyse some data from over 2 years ago for the submission of a big paper on the work I started before I left for these shores. Not quite sure what he meant but did some analysis and got the same results as before which is reassuring.

The journal review in lab meeting today went as expected. The boss crapped on most of the data. One thing he said was "if you can't find at least 10 things wrong with a peer reviewed article you aren't looking close enough". I'm sure he feels his papers are exempt from this. It's funny that all PI's think that their papers are solid and should get accepted no questions, yet everyone else's are rubbish. I'd like to do the manuscript version of a blind taste test and see what they think of their own work.
