AT THE MATCH

Newcastle had a home game this afternoon - 3pm kick off against Sheffield United.  My blip shows the chap who was sitting in front of me today.  His shirt shows the name of Tino Asprilla  - a Columbian footballer who made 48 appearances for Newcastle between 1996 and 1998.

The game started badly for Newcastle as Sheff Utd scored after only 5 mins.  What a shock.  However Newcastle got back into the game and started playing well and Isak scored on 26th min - so the half time score was 1 - 1. In the second half  Bruno Guimaraes scored on the 54 min, then Isak scored a penalty, then there was an own goal by a Sheff Utd player and finally a goal from Callum Wilson who returned from injury today.  Final score Newcastle 5 Sheff Utd 1.   This result takes Newcastle to 7th in the Premiership table.  And it also meant that Sheffield United are relegated to the Championship.

Ive added an Extra of some of the flags on display as well as the large banner in the Gallowgate End.  The banner is a tribute to our two Brazilian players Joelinton ( injured at the moment )  and Bruno. It translates as " From Alianca & Rio to Newcastle upon Tyne, a home away from home. Joelinton and Bruno, our Brazilian Geordies".

The weather today was dry and very sunny at times.  It was quite warm too although it turned colder towards the evening.
