Gisburn Auction Mart

Driving through the Ribble Valley this afternoon we called at Gisburn Auction Mart.  They auction cattle, sheep and farm machinery - today was a sheep day.
Well over a 1,000 animals were being auctioned today and it was fascinating to see how the stewards got sheep into the shed and then out to the ring. Livestock don't always go where you want them to - but they did whilst we were there (see my extra) .... and all the while the sound of the auctioneer was coming through speakers in the shed.  I didn't understand a word he said, but it was very atmospheric :-)
