Busy day!!
This is Ma and I at the National World War 2 Memorial. It was a sobering experience, in fact, all the memorials we visited today were.
We started off with coffee at one of the best coffee shops in DC (according to Google! Although it was definitely right!), M.E Swing's Coffee Roasters, which was amazing! Then we went to see all of the memorials around the National Mall. We started at the Washington Monument, which was sadly covered in scaffolding for repairs (typical!) after an earthquake in 2011. Then we worked our way round the National World War 2 Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and Korean War Memorial. They were all very moving but especially the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which lists the names of every soldier who was killed or missing in action during the Vietnam war. Ma has blipped a picture of it which is definitely worth seeing here, although I might be biased saying that 1) because she's my mum <3 and 2) because we're both kind of in the picture!
Then we headed to the Natural History Museum because there was an exhibition on the human genome project which I was dying to see (I'm doing a genetics degree so I dragged Ma along but I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it once we got there!). And after all that fun we headed to Georgetown for some AMAZING thai food and shopping, a wonderful day!
