Green Dragon
As it was his day off work, bro and I (with Rufus) had a leisurely and fabulous mid afternoon meal at one of our fav places, the Green Dragon in Youngs End, Black Notley (here). It's nearly 15 miles away so a visit needs planning and suddenly my time in Blighty is nearly up and we still hadn't been - so today was the day.
Just to tickle your fancy - we had :
Soup of the Day - Tomato & Pepper (me) Carrot & Lentil. (bro)
Grilled Salmon Florentine (both of us, in order to avoid Plate Envy).
The menu promised "Grilled salmon fillet served on roasted new potatoes and wilted spinach, topped with a free-range poached egg and a lightly smoked Hollandaise sauce" and this description did not disappoint - it was utterly delicious. Especially of course, as it was with a couple of pints of Greene King IPA. Our repast was rounded off with a mini Eton Mess and a cup of tea.
Hope you're hungry now. I certainly wasn't for the rest of the day and evening, which passed pleasantly enough with TV and embroidery.
Gotta get as much 'Quintessential England' (and Green King IPA) as I can before going back to Turkey next Wednesday.
