El Escorial, near Madrid

I left the grey skies of London for sunny Madrid then jumped on a bus to El Escorial, arriving about 4.30pm. It’s a pretty little place and I enjoyed wandering around the streets, sitting in the sun having an early dinner of the tastiest grilled new season’s asparagus and tomato followed by manchego cheese. I walked a bit more, then headed back to my hotel.
