Morning Walk to Burland Broch
A lovely day, clouds passing over in the morning, but mostly sunshine all day. Flat calm, gentle breezes, flat calm tonight. Warm in the sunshine, still nippy in the shade.
Up early, chores done around the house. Headed out for a walk before work. Popped by Laura's, nobody home. Late shift in the airport. A day working on the check-in desk. A steady day, all flights on time. Walkies with Sammy tonight. Feet up now, and a quiet night in.
Such a stunning morning, I had to get our and about, a coastal walk was the perfect choice. I always love a walk out to this old Iron Age broch. As you approach from the north, it's not very impressive, looks like a grassy mound. Here on the south side, the outer walls stand over 3m high. The broch entrance is on the edge of the cliff here, towering 30m above the sea. Not for the faint hearted, I ventured inside. When I was much younger, you could squeeze in the internal tunnels, but sadly the internal walls have recently collapsed. For a building over 2,000 years old, it's still in great shape. Taken at Burland Broch, Brindister.
