Going back in time

A good day in Kendal, we had time to spare and called in to the Carnegie Library, a fine looking building from the outside and also when inside. The place was opened in 1909, with huge windows including a roof window in one section. It was when I was taking the photo of the roof an official approached me to ask why I was taking photos, was it for publication? I explained we had read about the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and the library with large windows. She appeared to accept this although now I’m wary about posting on here. Perhaps in extras.

The main blip caught my eye, a photo from ‘some’ years ago showing a shop sign for a hairdresser and umbrella maker. (I couldn’t find a link to hairdressing and umbrella making, perhaps they shared an access) .

Afterwards we met with friends for lunch in Marra46, it was very pleasant, the staff couldn’t do enough and we had a good sour dough based pizza. Later we wandered around to the Brewery Arts centre for a cup of tea and spent the next so many hours chatting. Another happy long afternoon of food and chat. And it rained for a few minutes as we walked back to see the cats, I think this is the first rainfall since arriving here.
