On a dark waterway

I met this little egret today on one of the darker waterways running round the park.  What glorious birds they are.  I do wonder, though, why they have white feathers.  Is it so the fish swimming around their feet don't see a dark shape looming above them?

Apart from that I've been into town to sort out prescriptions and buy a little food that the supermarket failed to deliver yesterday.  You have to admit my life is full of the most interesting variety - is it any surprise I blip?  ;)))
