Wild flowers - red campion (or pink?)
This morning I went to Guildford again - jeez, I haven't been to Guildford for months yet this is my third trip there this week (and I am going again tomorrow!) Obviously all due to the exhibition being on in the gallery there. I met a friend for cappuccinos at Gail's, we had a good catch up and I heard about her son's exciting wedding plans. Then we went to the exhibition, and despite seeing it all before it was good to see it again as I noticed things I failed to see on my first visit.
I popped into Hotel Chocolat to buy some dark chocolate, they do a rather good 70% one, before coming back to Cobham to go get groceries for the weekend from the supermarket.
Gavin, who was working from home today, phoned me to say that the kitchen was out of use due to the plumbers/builders filling, sanding and painting the new ceiling, so we should have a quick lunch in the village. Tommy also joined us and we had a very good lunch at a favourite cafe before returning home.
There was fine white dust over every surface in the kitchen, despite their attempts to lay a plastic cover over most things. Our kitchen is a large room that consists of a kitchen and an informal sitting room, so the sofas and chairs are also be full of dust!
I took Xena for another walk while I was waiting for the plumbers to finish and leave, and I thought these flowers looked so pretty growing next to the river.
The plumbers have just left now, and although they did clean the floors and surfaces as best as they could, Gavin and I are about to get stuck in and clean up properly - well, clean according to our fussy standards! However there is a small section of the ceiling that needs re-sanding, filling and painting so they are coming back tomorrow, although they will contain the dust by holding a plastic sheet directly under the ceiling where they are working, as it is only a small section.
Tommy has gone to Cambridge to a friend's dinner party and after our cleaning we will have supper and settle in to another episode of A Gentleman in Moscow.
Inca is coming tomorrow and we are going back to Guildford as Tommy and her wish to see the exhibition, and tomorrow is the last day of the exhibition.
