It's Flower Friday and we finally have some flowers around here to look at and to photograph.

You will all recognize the lowly Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale); aka Lion's Tooth · Blowball · Cankerwort · Faceclock · Pee-a-bed · Wet-a-bed · Irish Daisy.

It's often the first plant to bloom around here in the Springtime although some tulips and daffodils are already showing.  It's an important plant for honey bees as it's a pretty good source of pollen and nectar when not much else is available.  My wild Eastern Cotton Tail rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus), Thumper, loves the stuff....everything from leaves to flower stalks and flowers.  Humans use the leaves as additions to salads in the early Spring...later on the plant turns very bitter and is almost inedible.  Personally, I like Roasted Dandelion blossoms.  Check out some recipes: https://wildmontana.org/2023/06/29/community/how-to-harvest-and-eat-the-common-dandelion/
