False Morel

I spotted three large examples of these in the orchard. Apparently they contain a substance which breaks down to form methyl-hydrazine which is not at all good for you. Some cultures eat these mushrooms - they boil them in water to break down the gyromitrin. False morels are alleged to be responsible for up to 23% of mushroom fatalities each year in Poland but data seems hard to find. It goes without saying that I'm not planning to try eating them, boiled or not. Interestingly, methyl hydrazine is often used as one of the components in rocket fuel.

I'm continuing with glazing and construction of a wardrobe. After donkeys' years of slumming it, I am finally going to have a place to put my clothes. Assembly of the wardrobe took up most of yesterday and I still have to make the drawers and fit the doors. The diagrams and instructions were not really adequate without working out a few things, including the orientation of the completed object - since revolving it would be a problem without help.

Pleasant spring weather again today. The cold spell doesn't seem to have burnt the fruit trees.
