Didn’t feel too bad when I woke up but took things easy anyway ! Changed my bed linen and then went to collect this old chair. Someone my upholstery tutor knows was giving it away and I decided to have it. It had been stored in a shed over the winter so was dry but I still got very dusty from all the padding etc which was exposed. As soon as I got it out of my car I realised that the top fabric was so fragile that it ripped as soon as it was touched so I pulled everything off the frame apart from some upholstery in the arms which was still attached securely. I still have all the tacks to take out though! I must now try to rearrange things so that I can store all these chairs.
Had a quick lunch and then went into town for the mixed media group. It was good to see everyone as we had a long break over Easter. We had a new tutor who is a carnival artist. She told us lots about the history and culture around Notting Hill and other similar carnivals and then we made some arm pieces for a costume. It was a good session , accompanied with Caribbean music and snacks, but we are going to make leg pieces and belts for the next three sessions, using the same materials and techniques. Not particularly looking forward to that. Went for the usual coffee and chocolate afterwards. My cold had developed into a cough by the afternoon!
