Slipstream
By Richard Wilson RA
One of the UK's most viewed artworks, inspired by the slipstream of a stunt plane's flight path.
A quick blip as it's been a busy day and we've only just got back from Heathrow T2 after collecting daughter#2 and SIL#2.
This sculpture, 77 tonnes of aluminium is in the terminal building, suspended in the gap between the short stay car park and the main building. The only photo I took today. I was lucky with the lone figure striding away from me, which gives an idea of scale.
We stopped at Beaconsfield Services on the way back for a quick bite to eat. The parking was chaotic. No idea what was going on but half the car park was closed off to ordinary visitors and there were lorries parked all along the access roads. I won't be stopping there again.
