Surprise!

After hearing my first cuckoo yesterday after the train station in Kirkby Stephen, I hoped our local ones might have made it back too so I went for a wander.

I chatted to a couple of people who told me one arrived last week - so I headed on up.

I thought I'd sit and watch for a while.  

I wasn't expecting a ring ouzel to jump on the wall. It was fleeting but I was hooked - so I sat and waited for quite some time and eventually my waiting paid off. 

It's been a while! Last time, I had no idea they passed through here.
