Carlisle parkrun in Morpeth and trip to Banborough
Beautiful day for a parkrun. Carlisle Park parkrun is misnamed as it is no where near Carlisle, but in all other respects a great location. We set off early to Morpeth, leaving our friends to rest in bed. It was cool and clear when we arrived and I appreciated storing my warm jacket in the RD trolley. During the run i enjoyed the views from the top of the hill and run along the river, we ran past stepping stones, a low bridge and Narnia lamp turn - all interesting features of the course. There was an incline on each of the 3 laps which was really a hill, but it seemed to get easier each time that I ran it. I was cautious on the down hill first time, but was able to gain in confidence for the 2nd and 3rd laps. Most importantly I kept running for the whole course.
There were very friendly marshals especially the RD, who took the time and trouble to be extra welcoming.
Official time 32:29 so I was pleased.
We returned promptly to the welcoming smell of bacon and eggs being cooked for us. What a treat from our friends!
After breakfast we went to Banborough Castle where we discovered that the Netflix series The Last Kingdom, was based on the history of the original wooden structure. Blip is C and I at the Castle.
