Water Fowl
… at Lake Hayes. There were never going to be any reflections today! On the way there we stopped for a snack at the general store In Cardrona where their vine had amazing red leaves (extra). We haven’t been to Lake Hayes for quite a few years - pre Covid anyway - and were surprised to see that they have cleared all the willows at the Wanaka end of the lake and planted hundreds of new natives. I walked along the track around the lake for about an hour. Then we drove to Ayrburn near Arrow Town. It is an old farm whose buildings have been ‘reimaged’ and turned into restaurants and bars. It is stunningly beautiful with the burn running through it and landscaped gardens surrounded by the mountains. We googled it when we got home. There are detailed menus but not a price to be seen on anything!!
