Durres

We have been really lucky with the weather. Even though it has been raining and thundering every day, the rainy weather has raged when we have been indoors.
But today we got the rain over us. My husband and I were prepared and brought rain gear from home, while the other travelers had not thought far enough. So we stayed dry. A city walk in Durres was undertaken. It was nice to see the different eras in the houses. The photo shows the newest mosque, which was beautiful as you can see.
Extra: We saw "piles of stones" today as well. Among other things, an amphitheatre from the 2nd century. After three hundred years, it was discontinued and it was forgotten and buried by nature under rubble, sand and earth. By chance, it was discovered in 1966 when a man was digging in the ground. And it said clunk from the shovel. By that time, new houses had been built on top of the amphitheater. But several of the houses were demolished and parts of the amphitheatre were uncovered. The stone benches themselves are left underground to protect them from erosion and destruction.
There is a project underway to get rid of a few more houses to get the whole ring. I understand that the homeowners do not want to voluntarily leave their homes. So it remains to be seen how it goes. In addition, there is a lack of money for the project.
