Expectant

The grebes that were building their floating nest on 8th April now have eggs in that nest.  There isn't a clear view of the nest, but I thought you'd enjoy seeing this sight even though, as a picture, it is less than perfect, given all the intervening vegetation.  The bird has just taken up its turn on the nest and has carefully turned the eggs, before settling down on top of them.

The expectant parents take it in turns to incubate the eggs, and in the extra you have the sitting Grebe's other half enjoying his/her time off the nest.
