The Three Farthings is open.
The land behind our house has three hills in it which were used for quarrying sandstone about 200 years ago (so the landowner tells me) and probably used on some of the original farm buildings, now all gone. In the winter the hillside is too slippy and at 550' often gets quite a covering of snow. There's little chance now for more so the stable owners allowed their horses out today for the first time this year. I have no knowledge of how 'The Three Farthings' got it's name but the next hill over overlooks Hangman's Lane. The farmer sold me the old buildings 30 years ago on the strict understanding that I wouldn't call my building Hangman's Cottage.
