Moose and a Chinese vase.

Amazing old Moose , on display in Riccarton House here in Christchurch, NZ.

It was hunted by one of the Dean’s family members back in 1921, in Canada.
We don’t have Moose here in NZ!

Shipped home and put on display in the beautiful large Deans family home.
They were one of the pioneer families of early Canterbury.

Story goes that they also bought back a trophy Alligator but it didn’t come through the taxidermy process too well and they had to dispose of it. It is buried in the gardens somewhere but over the years the exact location has been lost!

This is the one and only Moose that I’ve ever seen!
