well well well

This well is in our local woods. It appears to be just an ornamental one and there is evidence of a few raised flower beds near it to. When we first moved into the village it was fenced off like a private garden.
The fence is now long gone and I have no idea who owned it.....what it was there for or anything. It has intrigued me for ages!
Our old 96 year old neighbour (the first 'old' because she isn't our neighbour anymore and the second 'old' because she is!!!!) probably has all the answers! I must ask her next time I see her.
