It looked as though it was going to be cold but dry and sunny this morning so we decided to do another nest box check up at Longshaw. In my patch of woodland, at least one Male Pied Flycatcher had arrived since last week, so I was delighted. There are quite a number arriving in the other woodlands across the estate, but I’m happy as long as I’ve seen at least one on my little patch, as it is not considered prime habitat with its scrubby
understorey. He’s probably a return visitor - he has a ring on his leg. Another in extras.
