Costa Rica Day 14 - Corcavado - Palo Seco
We left early this morning retracing our steps of boarding a transfer boat from the beach to the fast motor launch, crossing Drake Bay on a tranquil sea, turning into the river and arriving in record time (aside from a short stop to observe some squirrel monkeys) in Sierpe. We met our driver and drove back along the road into Quepos where we stopped at an ATM for G to get some money to pay for the extras on the way home. We stopped at a place on the road where we turned off to Rainmaker and met G's transfer who was driving her to the airport. A few tears were shed.
We then went on to today's sauna - Rainmaker. A national park which didn't have many visitors and an amazing set of suspension bridges that even I didn't look down. (first extra) It's attraction are the amazing pools (good for swimming) and waterfalls (second extra). Not much wildlife that we were able to find. I estimated I lost another 3 litres in this sauna.
It was replenished in a late lunch in a roadside Tico and now in our hotel - El Clandestino with a Pura Vida.
This place is like Fawlty towers. The manager flew into a huge hissy fit with our guide when we arrived as she had made a mistake on the dates of our arrival but has been as nice as pie to us. She has 8 rescued dogs, 8 rescued cats and two rescued raccoons. The dogs lie on the sunbeds beside a pool in the shape of a turtle. The raccoons think they are dogs and one tried to get into the pool with us and had to be shooed away by Manuel. The beach is just across the road and I can hear the waves break as I type this. The place is a little run down. We have already decided that SCP who ran the Wilderness Lodge at Corcovado could really make something of it.
Well, Pura Vida is calling me.
A late check out and tomorrow we go back to San Jose.
PS Guest blipper J, for the pic of the bridge and waterfall.
