Final day in Poznan
Bagel for breakfast with everyone for our final meal together, reflecting on the holiday, the city and people of Poznan. Each of us had a different breakfast but all a bagel. Very filling and delicious, freshly made and wholesome. Our view of Poland and the people was generally all very positive. It is definitely somewhere to return to.
Then we went our separate ways, E, E, A and M to a museum and G and I to see the 1/2 marathon and more city sights. They have all been such good company.
We didn't have to go far before we were able to cheer on the elite athletes running the half. We then moved on to explore more of the city, finding a park, theatre and more impressive municipal buildings and war memorials. See extras
Then we continued towards the finish line of the 1/2 marathon, following the noise of several bands and cheering supporters. We were able to cross the race using subways, and after about 15 mins joining in the cheering crowd, decided to find some refreshments..
We then walked out of town towards the airport. G was not keen on a bus, or a cab and decided to walk to the airport. Reluctantly I joined him. After an hour's walk, we went through security and G was able to relax with a coffee. We watched a couple of planes depart before we were called to our gate. The flight home was good and we were soon back home with a takeaway reflecting on the holiday. Overall 10/10.
