And a bookshop
We have had a lovely couple of days in Edinburgh - started yesterday with a delicious lunch at Fishers in Leith, the place we love so much and have been going to for so many years. We stayed at the Premier Inn by the harbour (with a sea view). In the evening a bus (two buses actually) took us to the Queen’s Hall where we saw Sean Shibe, a wonderful young Edinburgh born guitarist whose albums I recently discovered and play a lot. With the Dunedin Consort and a programme of music from all ages, most with Scottish links. They are brilliant, he is magic.
This morning, after a great breakfast in Mimi’s, we set off, stopping in Portobello so Gordon could walk by the sea and I could at last visit the Portobello Bookshop. What a super bookshop it is - it is not big but seems more spacious than it is because of a clever design that provides lots of shelving and space to have books face front and yet lots of room around. Airy, light, bright and friendly. Books were bought . . .
